BIO STEPHENSON

Ralph Stephenson is a Co-founder (with Bob Pugh) of Prince William Citizens for Balanced Growth. PWCBG originated during the proposed Brentswood residential development/rezoning in 2005-06. PWCBG remains active, seeking to ensure that county policies balance residential growth with traffic, school, tax, economic, and quality-of-life issues.

Mr. Stephenson has been married to Kathyrn Mary for over 27 years. The Stephenson’s have been residents of northern Virginia since the early 1980s and settled in PW County (Braemar) in 2000. They have three children, all of whom graduated from Marsteller Middle School and Brentsville High School.

Mr. Stephenson served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Taiwan. He speaks Mandarin Chinese, and currently serves as membership and financial officer for a local Chinese-language congregation.

Mr. Stephenson has both a BA in communications/journalism and an MBA in Finance from Brigham Young University. He served with the Foreign Broadcast Information Service for 10 years as an editor and manager in Thailand, Japan and South Korea. He currently serves as a strategic planner/financial officer in the US Government.

Mr. Stephenson’s avocations include history, the arts and culture, gardening, and water and other outdoor sports. He and his wife love their community and intend to retire here, so are much vested in its long-term future.
